Sensei Hopkins Judo Course

We are to hold Sensei Hopkins Judo Courses twice a year with the next course taking place in Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October 2011.  Sensei Hopkins will be with us for our normal training session on the Friday Evening.  We will then be holding the course on Saturday and Sunday.  The Saturday Training Session is open to club members and other Judoka from across the Avon Area. The Sunday Training Sessions is open to club members and other Judoka from across the Avon Area that are 3rd Kyu and above. We will need to have numbers in advance so that we know how many places we have available for non-club members. If you would like to attend please email Adrian to confirm your desire to attend.

The cost for the Course will be £3.50 on Friday night (normal fees), and £10.00 per day. There is a £5.00 reduction for any Judoka attending both days  We are also hoping to again have a number of the past and present Kobushi instructors present during the weekend as well as numerous Dan Grades from various parts of the country.

Those of you that have attended the recent Sensei Hopkins courses will agree that they were everything that we had hoped for and more.  At the last Weekend Course Sensei was accompanied by a number of Dan grades who were able to assist in the practicing of techniques as well as making themselves available for randori.

The next Avon Area Grading is due to take place on Saturday 12th November 2011.  The Venue for this grading is Koi Judo Club.  More information about the Grading is available via the Area Grading page and details of what you will be examined on can be found on the Gradings page where there are Revision Sheets for each Grade.  It is our hope that all our eligible members will be able and attend.

We will bring you more details as we know them.

Membership Details

As all our regular members and their parents will know, we have been going through the process of ensuring that our records are up to date.  We have asked all members to complete a new membership form.  A number of these have been returned.  We will now be asking the members and their parents that have not completed a new form to complete a form before the end of November 2011.  This is for the member’s safety and to enable us to be able to respond should there be any problems.

We are sure that members and parents will appreciates our need to take this action.  By clicking on the icon below you will be able to download a blank membership form that you can complete and return at you next training session.

New Members

We are in a position to be able to take on new members. If you have any friends or family members who would like to give Judo a try, please feel free to invite them along.

Licence Renewals Reminder

As a result of policy changes by our governing body we are not allowed to let any members on the mat unless they hold a current full or provisional licence.  As a result we will now be advising members / parents of any impending renewals by letter and / or email, but will not automatically be renewing licences unless we are advised to do so.  If you do not renew your licence through this club and you allow your licence to lapse you will be unable to train at this club until any renewal fees are paid.

We do not wish to prevent members from training, but due to several previous members not paying for licence renewals we will now only renew licences when we have either written permission in the form of a returned tear off slip below from the renewal letter we send or an email requesting us to renew.
